I was sent this book from 'Carina UK' via NetGalley for an honest review.

Dear Ava,
How do you start writing a letter to someone, six years after breaking their heart?
Ava is unlucky in love as well as in life. The new office bitch has landed the dating column Ava wanted, and she can't remember the last time she had a second date. It's a good thing she has best friends Max and Gwen to pick up the pieces.
Deep down, Ava knows the reason why one date never turns into two – she's in love with someone else. Someone she's never even met.
It all started six years ago, with a letter from a secret admirer, Mr Writer... but then they suddenly stopped and Ava was heartbroken.
Now the letters have started again and Ava knows it could mean winning back the dating column at work. This time she's determined to unmask Mr Writer... and find out once and for all if he's Mr Right or Mr Very Definitely Wrong!

When it comes to really good books, I have a rather large soft spot for anything romantic with plenty of comedy thrown in. 'Just The Way You Are' is the wonderful debut novel from the talented and utterly lovely Lynsey James. What she managed to do with this story is grab me by the heartstrings and have me invested in this book from page one. The idea behind the story is such a wonderfully old school and romantic notion that isn't really explored anymore in today's world of fast paced social media.

Love letters are something that I have sent and received and truly believe they are a wonderful thread in a tale of romance that can and will make your heart soar. Ava is the leading lady in this literary love story and she is the recipient of many anonymous love letters from someone she has taken to call 'Mr Writer'. Now the sentiment behind these letters is ridiculously romantic and you can't help but feel for the guy who is sending them. He is so afraid of being rejected or causing disappointment with his true identity that he hides behind these wonderful love letters.

I would like to think I had the identity of 'Mr Writer' figured out quite early on, or it could be that I already knew who I really wanted it to be. Either way it's almost like you are in on this lovely little secret that Ava herself doesn't even know, and the anticipation that builds as you get closer to her finding out is so painfully delicious that it makes the ending and everything in between that much more romantically and emotionally satisfying.

Besides Ava, I found the extended cast of characters to be very entertaining. From Ava's best friends Max and Gwen who are just so wonderfully written that you really feel like you are a part of this cast of crazy friends. To the office bitch who we eventually realise isn't quite who she likes to portray to the world.

Then there is also the beautifully written secondary love story of an older couple that is wonderfully woven into the book. If you thought your heart couldn't throb any more with all these emotions then prepare to brace yourself for this book really does give you love, tears and emotion for days.

This book is an incredible debut and I am really looking forward to seeing what Lynsey does next.

I gave this book a ridiculously soppy 10/10
