Book Review: My Big Fat Christmas Wedding | Samantha Tonge

A quick note before I start this review, it does not have to be Christmas to enjoy this wonderful book.

My Big Fat Christmas Wedding is the sequel to the award-winning novel Game Of Scones by the lovely and talented Samantha Tonge. We make a welcome return to Taxos and the wonderful world of Pippa and Nico who are getting ready for their Christmas wedding. What is meant to be an exciting time for these two lovebirds, turns into a little bit of a trying time as the foundations of their relationship begin to shake ever so slightly. With the return of Pippa’s ex-fiancé Henrik, he begins to think about the glitz and Glam world of London and starts to question her decisions about life in Taxos.

There is also some slightly odd and questionable behaviour from Nico which does nothing to help the insecurities that Pippa is beginning to feel. Nico’s stubbornness while at times is endearing now on occasion gets quite annoying. Despite how handsome and lovable he is, I wanted to slap him upside the head and shake him as I’m sure many other readers including protagonist Pippa felt like doing on more than one occasion.

There are times where Henrik really annoyed me, and that was obviously the well-written intention of the author. At times I would just wish that Henrik would just go away, and that’s the polite way of putting it. He was a bit naughty in the way he tried to tempt Pippa back into the world that she was so willing to leave behind in the first place.

This is a wonderful sequel to a wonderful book and it continues the story of Pippa and Nico in such a wonderful way that I strongly believe there is room for a third book. Hint hint Samantha! I do think that three books would round up the story perfectly and I don’t feel I can quite done with a magical love story of Pippa and Nico. What is the book 3, there could be a baby on the way. Now I think that would be exciting. Come on Sam, give us readers what we want!

This is a wonderful story of love, complications and scones. Samantha’s writing is always a delicious treat that you just want to eat up and gorge yourself on. These are the kind of characters long after you’ve finished reading the very last page, and I think many of you can agree with me that were all still in love with Nico. Why can’t he be a real person?!

I gave this book a loved up 10 out of 10
