Book Review: One Hot Summer | Kat French

Being married to a celebrity isn't all it's cracked up to be, especially when that celebrity has a very public affair with his co-star…

Alice McBride is determined that the one thing she won't lose in her marriage breakup is Borne Manor, her beloved home, but she gets more than she bargained for when she rents it out for the summer and a sexy cowboy comes to stay.

Country music star Robinson Duff has had his own share of heartbreak and needs somewhere quiet to hide out for the summer. Neither Alice nor Robinson are in any position for romance; the timing is terrible and they're both rebounding like out of control frisbees.

Can a holiday romance help mend their broken hearts. Or will it just make things even worse when the long hot summer comes to its inevitable end?

My Review:

Well, what can I say about this book other than WOW. I love a good romantic comedy as much as the next person and this was one that I couldn’t wait to start reading when I knew that the fab folks over at Avon/Harper Collins were sending me a copy. Firstly, how yummy is that cover? Well to be fair you can’t get any yummier than the cowboy dreamboat Robinson who is the very sexy love interest in this book for a lovely leading lady Alice McBride.

This is a book about finding your true self through the loss of everything that you thought was perfect about your life. Alice’s husband has cheated and left, and she is heartbroken but what I loved about her was that she wasn’t willing to let it break her. Sure she had her moments of moping and tearful moments but who doesn’t. Alice at first glance seems to be a really sweet girl, which she totally is but at the same time people would be wrong to interpret that as weakness because this girl can sure hold her own and has an iron will to be proud of.

Surrounded by a colourful cast of truly loveable and crazy characters Alice has a rainbow of a family to support her and help her through the tough times. This book has a wonderful backbone of community spirit and that really shines through in the relationships and connections between the people in this book.

Not only is this book full of heart but it is full to the brim with humour and laugh out loud comedic moments. All I will say is is you haven’t read this yet, then keep an eye out for Rambo. He is just so funny and I think everyone needs a little Rambo in their life. This isn’t a reference to the film of the same name *shudders*.

Then there is Robinson. I may need to take a moment to collect myself for he made me swoon on a million and one occasions. He is a cowboy, a Nashville country singing cowboy for goodness sake. I don’t mean to sound crude but, wait actually I totally do. He is drop your draws sexy, and trust me Alice feels the same way. I can’t say any more without ruining it but there are some wonderfully romantic moments in this book. Have you ever read a book that feels like it reaches out and squeezes your heart? This is one of those amazingly romantic books, and I adored every moment of it.

I can guarantee that you will love this book.

One of my top read of Summer 2016 so far.

Can I please have every book by Kat French right now? Seriously!!!

I gave this a sexy 10/10
